Can I wear my contact lenses while using Alphagan Eye Drops?
No. You must remove your contact lenses before instilling Alphagan. The solution contains Benzalkonium Chloride, a preservative that can stain soft contact lenses and cause corneal irritation. Wait a minimum of 15 minutes after applying the drops before reinserting your lenses.
What happens if I accidentally miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, apply the single drop as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed drop entirely and return to your regular routine. Never double the dose or put multiple drops in your eye to compensate for a missed one.
Is Alphagan a permanent cure for glaucoma?
No. Glaucoma cannot be completely cured, but it can be highly controlled. Alphagan works to keep your intraocular pressure at a safe level only as long as you use it continuously. Stopping the drops will cause your eye pressure to rise again, risking irreversible vision loss.
