Starting Amount: The standard starting dose for adults is half to 1 tablet (8mg to 16mg) taken 3 times a day.
Maintenance Dose: Your doctor may adjust your dose up to 24mg to 48mg daily, usually split evenly into 3 doses across the day.
Take WITH Food: Swallow your tablet whole with water during or right after a meal.
Be Consistent: Take your doses at the same times every day to maintain steady levels of the medicine in your body.
Betahistine is generally well-tolerated, but some people may experience mild side effects:
Mild stomach upset, indigestion, or feeling sick (nausea).
Mild headaches.
Mild skin itching, redness, or rash in rare cases.
How long does it take for Betahistine to work?
It may take a few days or even a few weeks of regular daily use to feel the full benefits and see a reduction in vertigo attacks. Do not stop taking it early just because you do not feel immediate changes.
What should I do if I forget to take a dose?
Skip the missed dose and take your next tablet at your normal scheduled time. Never take 2 tablets at once to make up for a missed dose.
