Entacapone (200mg): A specific enzyme blocker that only works when taken simultaneously with Levodopa-based medications.
The "Simultaneous" Rule: CRITICAL: Comtess has no effect on Parkinson's when taken alone. You must take one (1) 200mg tablet with every single dose of Levodopa/Carbidopa (e.g., Sinemet) or Levodopa/Benserazide (e.g., Madopar).
Maximum Dose: The standard limit is usually 10 tablets per day (2,000mg of Entacapone).
Consistency: Take the tablet at the exact same time as your primary Parkinson's medication. It can be taken with or without food.
Swallow Whole: Do not crush or chew the tablets.
Iron Interactions: If you take iron supplements, take them at least 2 to 3 hours apart from Comtess, as iron can prevent the medication from being absorbed properly.

Urine Discoloration: DO NOT BE ALARMED: Comtess may turn your urine a reddish-brown or orange color. This is a harmless side effect caused by the medication and is not blood.

Sleepiness: This medication can cause "sudden onset of sleep" or extreme drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
Impulse Control: Some patients on Parkinson's medications experience unusual urges (e.g., increased gambling, spending, or hypersexuality). Inform a healthcare professional if you notice these changes.
Diarrhea: If you experience persistent or severe diarrhea, contact your doctor, as this can sometimes be a side effect of Entacapone that requires stopping the medication.
Indicated For: Adult patients with Parkinson’s disease who are currently taking Levodopa and are experiencing "end-of-dose" motor fluctuations that are no longer controlled by their primary medication alone.

A: No. Comtess does not contain dopamine and does not work on its own. It only functions by protecting the Levodopa you are already taking.
