Fynale Forte is a high-strength, fixed-dose Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy (ACT) used for the treatment of malaria. It contains a concentrated "Forte" dose of Artemether and Lumefantrine. This medication is indicated for the treatment of acute, uncomplicated malaria. It is used for:
Plasmodium falciparum Malaria: The most prevalent and severe strain of malaria.
Rapid Symptom Relief: Quickly reducing fever, body aches, and the "chills" associated with an active infection.
Parasite Clearance: Completely clearing the bloodstream of malaria parasites to prevent the disease from progressing to severe or cerebral malaria.
Artemether (80mg): The fast-acting component that begins killing parasites immediately to bring down fever and symptoms.
Lumefantrine (480mg): The long-acting component that stays in the body for several days to ensure every last parasite is eliminated, preventing a relapse.
The Forte formulation is typically used for adults and children weighing 35kg and above. The standard course is 6 doses over 3 days:
Day 1: Take 1 tablet immediately, followed by 1 tablet exactly 8 hours later.
Day 2: Take 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening (12 hours apart).
Day 3: Take 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening (12 hours apart).
Total Course: You must take all 6 tablets in the pack to ensure the malaria is completely cured.
Take with Fatty Food: For the medicine to work properly, it must be taken with a meal containing some fat (such as milk, eggs, meat, or a meal prepared with oil). Fat is essential for the absorption of Lumefantrine.
Swallow Whole: Take the tablet with a glass of water.
Vomiting: If you vomit within 1 hour of taking the tablet, you must take another one. Contact our pharmacist if you need a replacement for a vomited dose.
Finish the Dose: Never stop the treatment even if you feel better after the first or second tablet. Incomplete treatment leads to drug resistance and the malaria returning much stronger.
Not for Prevention: Fynale Forte is a treatment for active malaria; it is not meant to be used as a weekly preventive (prophylaxis).
