Standard Dilution: Typically 1 level scoop of powder to 30ml (1 oz) of previously boiled, cooled water.
Feeding Table: Always follow the specific feeding table on the back of the tin, as requirements vary by the baby's weight and age.
Water Temperature: Use water that has been boiled and then cooled down to approximately 40°C (lukewarm) to ensure the probiotics remain active.
Hygiene: Wash your hands thoroughly. Sterilize the bottle, nipple, and cap by boiling them for 5 minutes.
Water: Boil fresh drinking water for 5 minutes and let it cool until lukewarm.
Measure: Pour the exact amount of lukewarm water into the sterilized bottle.
Add Powder: Use only the scoop provided in the tin. Add the exact number of level scoops for the baby’s age.
Mix: Cap the bottle and shake well until the powder is fully dissolved.
Test: Check the temperature on your wrist before feeding. It should feel warm, not hot.
Indicated For: Infants from 0 to 6 months who are not being breastfed or who require supplementation.
Important Notice: Breast milk is best for babies. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months. Consult our pharmacist or your pediatrician before introducing infant formula.
Storage: Keep the tin in a cool, dry place. Use the contents within 3 weeks after opening.
Q: Can I save leftover formula for the next feed?
A: No. Any formula left in the bottle after a feed should be discarded within 1 hour. Bacteria can grow rapidly in warm milk once it has been in contact with the baby's saliva.
Q: Why is the scoop size so specific?
A: Using too much or too little powder can lead to dehydration or malnutrition. Always use the provided scoop and level it off with a clean knife.
Q: Can I use NAN 1 for my 8-month-old?
A: While not harmful, it is better to transition to NAN OPTIPRO 2, which is specifically formulated with higher iron and different protein ratios to meet the needs of infants from 6 months onwards.
