Benadryl Allergy Children’s 2+ Syrup is an over-the-counter non-drowsy allergy syrup for kids. Unlike older versions of Benadryl, the "Children's 2+" formula contains Cetirizine Hydrochloride (1mg per 1ml) as its active ingredient.
Taken by mouth, it is used for children aged 2 years and older to relieve daily allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and skin rashes (hives).
When your child comes into contact with dust, pollen, or pet hair, their body releases a chemical called histamine, which causes sneezing, itching, and a runny nose.
Blocks Histamine: Cetirizine blocks histamine from triggering these reactions in the body.
Non-Drowsy Formula: It provides effective relief without causing the severe sleepiness associated with older allergy medicines.

Different countries sell different versions of Benadryl. The UK/European "Children's 2+" version contains Cetirizine, which is safe for kids aged 2 and older.
Older US versions contain Diphenhydramine, which can cause heavy sleepiness and is generally not recommended for young children unless specifically advised by a doctor.
Do Not Use Under 2 Years: Do NOT give this syrup to children under 2 years old unless explicitly prescribed by a doctor.
Kidney Problems: Talk to your doctor before giving this medicine if your child has severe kidney issues.
Do Not Combine: Never combine this syrup with other allergy, cold, or cough medicines containing antihistamines.
Use the measuring spoon or dosing cup provided in the box. Do not use regular kitchen spoons.
Children Aged 2 to 6 Years: Give 2.5ml twice a day (2.5ml in the morning and 2.5ml in the evening).
Children Aged 6 to 12 Years: Give 5ml twice a day (5ml in the morning and 5ml in the evening).
Adults & Children 12 Years and Over: Take 10ml once a day.
Cetirizine is generally very safe and well-tolerated by children, but some mild side effects can happen:
Mild drowsiness or tiredness (in rare cases).
Mild headache or dry mouth.
Mild stomach upset or diarrhea.
Will this syrup make my child sleepy?
Cetirizine is designed to be non-drowsy for most people. However, a small number of children may still feel slightly sleepy after taking it. It is best to monitor how your child reacts after their first dose.
How should I store this syrup?
Keep the bottle tightly capped in a cool, dry place strictly below 25°C or 30°C, away from direct sunlight, and keep it completely out of reach of children.
