CellCept 500mg is a prescription-only immunosuppressive medicine. Each film-coated tablet contains 500mg of Mycophenolate Mofetil (sometimes spelled Mekofenolat Mofetil).

CellCept suppresses specific parts of your immune system to protect your new organ:
Inhibits White Blood Cells: It blocks an enzyme called inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH), which T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes (white blood cells) need to multiply.
Prevents Rejection: By stopping these specific immune cells from multiplying, it prevents them from attacking and damaging the transplanted kidney, heart, or liver.
🚨 Immune Suppression Hazard: Because CellCept lowers your body's natural immune defenses, it increases your risk of catching serious infections (bacterial, viral, fungal) and increases the long-term risk of developing skin cancers and lymphomas.
Report any fever, chills, persistent sore throat, or unusual tiredness to your transplant team immediately.
🚨 High Teratogenic Risk: CellCept causes severe birth defects and high rates of pregnancy loss (miscarriage).
Women of childbearing potential must use effective birth control before starting, during, and for 6 weeks after stopping treatment.
Men taking CellCept should use condoms during sex throughout treatment and for 90 days after stopping.
🚨 Protection Required: Limit direct sunlight and UV exposure by wearing protective clothing and using broad-spectrum, high-SPF sunscreen due to an increased risk of skin cancer.
Take as Directed: The exact daily dose depends on the transplanted organ (kidney, heart, or liver) and your doctor's specific prescription.
Swallow Whole: Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water. Do NOT crush, chew, split, or break tablets, as the powder inside should not be inhaled or touch your skin.
Food Consistency: You can take CellCept with or without food, but be consistent (always take it with food or always on an empty stomach) to keep medicine levels steady in your blood.
Never Skip or Stop Doses: Take your doses at exact intervals (usually 12 hours apart). Never adjust your dose or stop taking CellCept without explicit instructions from your transplant specialist.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed tablet.
Digestive issues: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or constipation.
Low white blood cell levels (leukopenia) or low red blood cells (anemia).
Urinary tract infections or chest infections.
Mild swelling in hands, ankles, or feet.
Signs of infection (fever, chills, sore throat, burning when urinating).
Unexpected bruising, bleeding gums, or severe pale skin.
Black, tarry stools or vomiting blood (signs of stomach bleeding).
Keep tablets inside their original blister packaging and box to protect from light and moisture.
Store in a cool, dry place.
