Maintenance Therapy: It is used daily to keep symptoms under control and reduce the need for emergency "reliever" puffs.
Beclometasone Dipropionate: A potent anti-inflammatory steroid. It comes in various strengths (e.g., 50mcg, 100mcg, 200mcg, or 250mcg per puff) to suit the severity of the patient's condition.
Routine: Usually one or two puffs, twice daily (morning and evening).
Consistency: CRITICAL: This inhaler must be used every day, even when you feel well and have no breathing difficulties. It takes several days to a week of consistent use to reach its full effect.
Reliever Note: This inhaler will not stop a sudden asthma attack. You must always carry your "reliever" inhaler (usually blue, like Salbutamol/Ventolin) for emergencies.
Preparation: Remove the mouthpiece cover and shake the inhaler well.
Exhale: Breathe out gently, away from the inhaler.
Inhale: Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and close your lips. Start to breathe in slowly and deeply, and simultaneously press the top of the canister once.
Hold: Remove the inhaler and hold your breath for about 10 seconds (or as long as comfortable).
Rinse: CRITICAL: Always rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after use. This helps prevent oral thrush (a fungal infection) and hoarseness.
Oral Hygiene: Rinsing the mouth is essential to minimize the risk of a sore throat or white patches (thrush) in the mouth. Using a spacer device can also reduce these side effects.
Inhaler Cleaning: Clean the plastic actuator once a week. Remove the metal canister and wash the plastic casing in warm soapy water, then air dry thoroughly.
Vision: If you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances while using high doses, contact our pharmacist.
Dose Tapering: Do not stop using this inhaler suddenly without consulting your doctor, as your asthma symptoms may return rapidly.
Indicated For: Adults and children requiring daily maintenance therapy for asthma. For children, a spacer is highly recommended to ensure the medicine reaches the lungs effectively.
Q: Can I use a spacer with Clenil Modulite?

Q: I used it and still feel wheezy; is it working?
A: Yes, it is working "behind the scenes" to reduce inflammation. It does not provide instant relief. If you are currently wheezing, use your Blue Reliever inhaler.
Q: How do I know when it's empty?
A: Shake the inhaler; if it feels very light or you don't hear a "swish" of liquid, it may be empty. It is best to track the number of puffs used or keep a spare.
