Nasonex 50mcg Nasal Spray is a prescription steroid nasal spray. The bottle delivers 140 measured doses, with each spray containing 50 micrograms of Mometasone Furoate (as monohydrate).
It is prescribed by doctors to treat and prevent the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial (year-round) allergies in adults and children aged 2 and older. It is also used to treat nasal polyps in adults aged 18 and older.
Nasonex contains a corticosteroid that acts directly inside the nasal passages:
Reduces Swelling & Inflammation: It calms the overactive immune response in the nasal lining, reducing inflammation, swelling, and mucus production.
Relieves Allergy Symptoms: It helps relieve sneezing, nasal congestion, a runny or itchy nose, and sinus pressure caused by allergies or nasal polyps.
🚨 Continuous Use Required: Nasonex is NOT an immediate-relief decongestant. While some improvement may be noticed within 12 hours, it usually takes a few days of regular daily use to achieve maximum benefit.
🚨 Avoid Spraying Nasal Septum: Always point the nozzle slightly outward toward the side of your nose, away from the center wall (septum), to prevent nasal irritation or nosebleeds.
🚨 Healing Caution: Avoid using steroid nasal sprays if you have recently had nasal surgery, severe nasal trauma, or unhealed ulcers in your nose until full healing has occurred.
Allergies: 2 sprays into each nostril once daily (total daily dose: 200mcg). Once symptoms are controlled, your doctor may reduce this to 1 spray in each nostril daily.
Nasal Polyps: 2 sprays into each nostril twice daily (morning and evening), or as directed by your doctor.
Children (2 to 11 years): Usually 1 spray into each nostril once daily under adult supervision.
Prime the Bottle: Shake well before each use. Before using it for the first time (or if unused for 14 days or more), prime the pump by spraying into the air until a fine mist appears.
Clear Your Nose: Gently blow your nose to clear your nostrils.
Apply Spray: Tilt your head slightly forward. Insert the tip gently into one nostril while holding the other closed. Point the spray away from the center wall. Press down firmly to spray while breathing in gently through your nose.
Exhale Through Mouth: Breathe out through your mouth. Repeat in the other nostril.
Wipe Clean: Wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue and replace the cap.
Mild nosebleeds or blood-tinged mucus.
Mild nasal irritation, burning, or sneezing after spraying.
Headache or sore throat.
Severe or persistent nosebleeds.
Pain inside the nose, white patches in the nose/throat (fungal infection), or signs of nasal septum perforation.
Vision changes, eye pain, or signs of elevated eye pressure (glaucoma/cataracts).
Keep the bottle upright with the dust cap on.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and sunlight. Do NOT freeze.
Keep strictly out of reach of children.
