Milton Sterilising Fluid is an over-the-counter chemical sterilizing and disinfectant liquid. Its active ingredient is Sodium Hypochlorite (2.0% w/w), combined with Sodium Chloride (salt).
It is specially designed to clean and disinfect baby feeding equipment, such as bottles, teats, soothers, teething rings, breast pump parts, and plastic toys, as well as general household surfaces.
Milton Fluid uses a cold-water sterilizing system to protect against germs:
Kills Germs Quickly: It destroys 99.9% of harmful germs, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses, in just 15 minutes.
Keeps Items Sterilized: Items left submerged in the Milton solution stay sterile for up to 24 hours.
No Rinsing Required: Once removed from the solution, items can be used immediately without rinsing, leaving no harmful chemical residue or smell that affects baby milk.
🚨 Poison Warning: Milton Sterilising Fluid is for EXTERNAL DISINFECTION ONLY. Never swallow the liquid directly or mix it with drinks or food.
🚨 Toxic Gas Hazard: Never mix Milton Fluid with acids, hot water, or other household cleaners (such as toilet cleaners or bleach). Mixing can release dangerous, toxic chlorine gas.
🚨 Irritation Warning: Undiluted liquid can irritate eyes and skin.
Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin.
If raw liquid gets into your eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water for several minutes and seek medical care if irritation continues.
Clean First: Wash baby bottles, teats, and accessories thoroughly in warm, soapy water, then rinse with cold water.
Prepare Solution: Add 30ml (1 capful) of Milton Fluid for every 5 liters of clean, cold water in a plastic container or sterilizing tub.
Submerge Items: Submerge all clean items completely under the water, making sure no air bubbles are trapped inside bottles or teats.
Wait 15 Minutes: Leave items submerged for at least 15 minutes to fully sterilize.
Ready to Use: Wash your hands before taking items out. Drain off any excess liquid—do NOT rinse with tap water (tap water can reintroduce germs).
Renew Daily: Make a fresh Milton solution every 24 hours.
Dilute 30ml in 5 liters of water to wipe down kitchen counters, high chairs, cutting boards, and fridges.
Mild skin dryness or irritation if hands are placed in the diluted solution frequently (using tongs or gloves is recommended).
Mild bleaching or fading if raw liquid drips onto colored fabrics or clothing.
Keep the bottle tightly closed in its original container.
Store upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
Keep strictly out of reach of children.
